Intergage Update – Google Analytics Universal to stop processing data July 2023

Google Analytics has made us aware last week that Universal Analytics will no longer process new data from the 1st of July 2023. This has been on the cards for a while with the launch of Google Analytics 4, but what does that mean to you?

Analytics message

Although this is over a year away Intergage is taking the potential impact of this change seriously and are working behind the scenes to understand the full implications and knock on effect to Intergage customers.

Many of our clients use it, and if you have not been looking at the analytics for your website, we would whole heartedly recommend that you do as this can provide meaningful insight into what your users, clients and prospects are looking at on your site.

Since its launch there have been several iterations of Google Analytics enhancements or changes to account for things like Google Tag Manager (another free solution to help with both Google tracking and third-party tracking code implementation without the need for a deployment). In October 2020 Google announced the launch of Google Analytics 4 which is a radical shift from the approach used to date. Indications currently are that this can be achieved either using the GTag Global Analytics code snippet or using Google Tag Manager.

What does this mean for you?

Are you using your analytics ? If so you'll need to ensure that you have either the Gtag or GA4 implementation, if not you will need to look at upgrading or another viable solution. If you are using Universal Analytcis this will no longer track data from July next year. To understand how to find out what version you are running please visit the article linked below.

For more information on this and the current Intergage stand point on this change please read the full article on GA Universal End of Life.

If you are concerned or nervous about this please do contact Intergage either via the contact form on the website or by getting in touch with your account Manager.

Google has written an article on the change which can be found here.
